AAAA is a domain address record, that is basically the IPv6 address of the server where the domain is hosted. The IPv6 system was introduced to replace the existing IPv4 system in which every single IP consists of four groups of decimal digits which range from 1 to 255 e.g. 5.168.208.143. On the other hand, an IPv6 address features eight groups of four hexadecimal numbers - ranging from 0 to 9 and from A to F. The main reason for this modification is the tremendously smaller range of unique IPs which the existing system supports and the quick increase of units that are connected to the Internet. An illustration of an IPv6 address would be 2101:1f34:32e2:2415:1365:4f2b:2553:1345. If you need to forward a domain to a web server which uses this type of an address, you will need to set up an AAAA record for it, and not the commonly used A record, which is an IPv4 address. The two records deliver the exact same function, but different notations are used, to differentiate the two sorts of addresses.

AAAA Records in Cloud Hosting

If you need to create a new AAAA record for any domain name or subdomain hosted in your cloud hosting account, it will not take you more than several basic steps to do that. Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel is extremely intuitive to use and is going to allow you to set up or change every single record easily. After you log in and navigate to the DNS Records section, in which you'll discover all current records for your domains and subdomains, you'll only have to click on the "New" button, select AAAA from a small drop-down options menu within the pop-up which will appear, input or paste the necessary IPv6 address and save the modification - it's as simple as that. The new record shall be fully active within only 1 hour and the hostname that you have created it for is going to start opening whatever content you have with the other company. If needed, you will also be able to modify the TTL (Time To Live) value, which reveals the time in seconds the new record will be functioning after you eventually modify it to something different or you simply delete it.
